Family: Where Love Matters More is the theme chosen for 2014 Pride Week as the LGBTI community celebrates the passing of the Civil Unions Act and the legal recognition it grants to same-sex couples and their families. It took place between the 12th and 18th July.
One of the concerns raised during the debate preceding the passing of the Civil Union Act was that Rainbow Families often face stigma in society which can have an impact on their wellbeing. This Pride Week therefore seeks to raise awareness and understanding particularly with respect to the misconceptions that exist around the impact of parenting by same-sex couples.
2014 Pride Week was organized jointly by MGRM, aditus, Drachma, and We Are and also enjoys the support of the Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties.
