Public Call for Event Proposals during Malta Pride Month (September 2020)

Updated: Jul 20

2020 will go down in LGBTIQ+ history as the year when 500+ Prides all over the world were cancelled due to the COVID19 pandemic. On 2nd June 2020, Allied Rainbow Communities (ARC) took the decision to cancel the annual Pride March & Concert scheduled for September 12th, in view of the fact that mass gatherings were and still are considered high risk in spreading the contagion.

The celebratory element and feeling of community that the Pride March & Concert brings about will definitely be missed this year. It does not stop us, however, from holding smaller scale events for the LGBTIQ+ community that promote diversity, raise issues of concern as well as bring about a feeling of belonging, learning, sharing, acceptance and growth while continuing to safeguard public health.

Allied Rainbow Communities, as registered trademark holders of Malta Pride (TM56412, TM55088, TM55087), is accepting calls for event proposals during the month of September to be endorsed as Malta Pride Official Events and be listed in the Official Calendar.

  • Who can submit a proposal?

Any person or entity can submit their proposal as long as they are based in Malta.

  • What do I get if my event proposal is accepted?

If a proposal is accepted, the entity or person can use the Malta Pride 2020 official logo and make use of the label "Malta Pride Official Event".

The event will be featured and promoted via our social media channels as well as our websites: gaymalta.com & maltapride.org

  • Is there a fee for the event to be "Malta Pride endorsed"?

Profit-making event organisers will need to discuss fees & terms with ARC on a case-by-case basis. We only ask for a nominal donation but which is proportional to the magnitude of the event.

Registered voluntary organisations and public sector entities will not be charged a fee if their event proposal is accepted.

  • What kind of events will you consider?

Any type of event of any size and dimension will be considered as long as the main aim is to benefit the LGBTIQ+ community. Some examples include: parties, workshops & discussions, quiz/bingo nights and artistic events (both virtual and physical type of events will be considered).

  • How do I submit my event proposal?

All proposals are to be submitted using this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSerRXKbsEdIzEE7TZksoOE90yqV6I3aV0Z5S5FLNFbYESnOpg/viewform

  • Will I receive any financial support from ARC for organising a Pride Event?

In principle, we are not in a position to financially support other initiatives however we may be interested to support an event if the proposal is of particular interest to us and of important relevance to the community.
