About the event

The film features Gay Pride, the Gay Liberation Front and the Stonewall riots, pioneering demonstrations recognised as landmark movements. Are You Proud? doesn’t just look back, but asks tough questions about how racism, xenophobia affects Queer People of Colour (QPOC) within mainstream LGBT Pride and cultures today. 50 years after the Stonewall riots in America, this is a timely moment to take stock and question how much attitudes have changed and fundamental rights yet to be achieved.

Directed by Ashley Joiner with contributors Lisa Power, Phyll Opoku - Gyimah, Riyadh Khalaf, Michael Cashman, George Montague, Jason Jones, Alison Camps, Andrew Lumsden, Antonia Bright, Chris Smith, Chryssy Hunter, Dan Glass, Deacon Joy Everingham, Dimitry Spodobaev, Femi Otitoju, Fox Fisher, Gethin Roberts, Isaac Julien, Jacob V Joyce, Jennie Lazenby, Matthew Todd, Michael Salter-Church, Nettie Pollard, Paul Dillane, Peter Tatchell, PJ Samuels, Roch McLean, Sami Cee, Sarah McGuire, Sarah Savage, Simon Watney, Son of a Tutu, Stuart Feather, Sue Sanders, Ted Brown and Usmann Rana Mare.
