About the event

The SOGIGESC Unit within the Human Rights Directorate is hosting the final conference of the project TRANSFORM: Raising the standards of health care service provision for LGBTIQ people (2019-2022), co-financed by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme (2014-2020) of the European Union.

The project aimed to build the capacity of the health sector in Malta to be more inclusive of LGBTIQ patients as well as raising awareness among LGBTIQ persons on health risks they may be exposed to and services that may be available to them.

The Conference will take place on Wednesday 19th January 2022 between 9:00am and 1:00pm, in a hybrid format. Attendees may choose to be present either physically at the Radisson Blu in St. Julian’s or through a zoom link communicated to registrants closer to the date.

The event is an opportunity to highlight the achievements of the project as well as to reflect on the way forward. Keynote speakers and panelists will focus on two main themes:

i.  Trajectories in Transgender Healthcare Provision in Malta & Europe and the Challenges to inclusive health care provision posed by anti-trans movements across Europe; and

ii.  Challenges to LGBTIQ inclusive health care provision posed by anti-trans movements across Europe.

The conference will be conducted in English and includes the participation of both national and international experts. The full agenda can be accessed here and speaker bios here. Maltese Sign Language will be provided.

Those intending to attend physically are to register by 10:00 Monday 17th January. Kindly register through this link.

Kindly be aware that physical attendance is limited, and admittance will only be allowed upon presentation of a valid Covid-19 vaccination certificate for those who register in advance. All mitigation conditions and guidelines related to COVID-19 as issued by the National Health Authorities at the time will be adhered to. Parking will be available on a first-come-first served basis.
