Roundtable discussion with persons identifying as non-binary

The present gender binary system on birth certificates excludes individuals who do not identify as either female or male, forcing them into an identification which does not reflect their self-determined gender identity and also excludes the possibility of a name change.

Hon Rebecca Buttigieg, Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality together with the SOGIGESC Unit within the Human Rights Directorate invites all those who identify as non-binary to join us for a consultation meeting where we shall discuss the implications that would ensue should a third Gender Marker be introduced, whether such a provision would meet the needs and expectations of persons who identify as non-

binary in Malta and if so, how we might go about this.
