Prepare to be enthralled by this remarkable production that took the Edinburgh Fringe 2022 by storm, leaving audiences in awe and earning critical acclaim, awards, and sold-out shows night after night. “The Chosen Haram” weaves a powerful narrative that explores the lives of two gay men who serendipitously connect through a dating app. Through their journey, they navigate the highs and lows of their relationship while facing the daunting barriers imposed by society and culture in their pursuit of happiness and personal fulfillment.

This gripping and multifaceted circus performance, presented on two Chinese Poles, seamlessly combines love, drugs, and Islam. With emotionally candid storytelling, heartwarming moments, and bursts of humor and joy, “The Chosen Haram” defies gravity with gravity-defying tricks and extraordinary movement.

Delving into themes of sexuality, chemsex, faith, addiction, and connection, this production fearlessly examines the personal struggles confronted by individuals whose upbringing conflicts with their authentic selves, often leading to self-destructive behavior. It draws inspiration from the personal experiences of Ali and interviews with LGBTIQ+ community members who identify as (ex) Muslim.
