Dear Members of the LGBTQ+ Community, Allies & Supporters,
In light of COVID-19 measures recently announced at the press conference by the Prime Minister Dr. Robert Abela on 1st June 2020, and the announcement that mass gatherings will be banned throughout the summer period, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Pride March & Concert that was due to take place on Saturday 12th September 2020.
LOVE IS NOT CANCELLED.
Safeguarding public health and following guidelines is paramount. This means that we will be reinventing ourselves as a community in terms of how we get together.
May we reiterate our statement that “it is not Pride, if it is Racist” and may we add “…and Trans exclusionary” hence, as from now on, Malta Pride shall be using the Daniel Quasar inclusive Pride Flag:
Let us not forget what makes the LGBTQ+ community unique. It is a minority, but it is also intersectional through race, gender, belief, ability and class. We have an important role to free the oppressed and bring about social change in our communities.
