England! Thanks to Your support in EURO 2020

From the article of Emma Powys Maurice

Despite Italy won the EURO final 2020 in the Home stadium of England ( Wembley Stadium), the English players were praised for their progressive politics throughout the competition and even if They got a silver medal, their support and contribution should be awarded with a gold medal.

After the questionable words declared by the UEFA president (Aleksander Čeferin), the England team decided to not follow the guidelines of UEFA and on the international stage, they wore rainbow laces and armbands, making no secret of their LGBTIQ+ allyship in a competition plagued by homophobia.

“Our players are role model” said England coach Gareth Southgate. “It’s their duty to continue to interact with the public on matters such as equality, inclusivity and racial injustice, while using the power of their voices to help put debates on the table, raise awareness and educate.”

A lot of people were so proud about the social path made by England in this Europe Cup. Adele Roberts, a DJ of Radio one tweeted a glad and pride sentence: "Standing up against racism, being brilliant LGBTIQ+ allies and giving 100 per cent on the pitch. From Southgate to Pickford they’re united.”.

Remember that FA was one of the first football federation to condemn all form of discrimination and after the defeat of England in the final It was appalled by the online racism that has been aimed at some of England players on social media.

Also the team tweeted: "We’re disgusted that some of our squad – who have given everything for the shirt this summer – have been subjected to discriminatory abuse online after tonight’s game".

The ARC community expresses solidariety for all England players who have suffered discriminatory attacks.
