Unless you have been living under a rock, a lot of commotion took place in the last 24 hours as Catholic Priest, Fr David Muscat commented via his social media platforms that being gay is a worse affliction than being posessed. This is not the first time that the priest dished out homophobic and fascist remarks towards other minorities.
This obviously created a lot of hurt reaction and anger by the LGBTIQ community, their families and allies, so much so that ministers, opposition representatives and activists reported these comments to the Police Authorities and asked the Archbishop to take action.
Throughout this whole commotion, one words stood out: "Gayyagni" - a word that does not exist in any dictionary, but quoted by Fr Muscat in his comment to mean "homosexuality" in a derogative sense.
It only took less than 24 hours for local fashion designer Marco Parascandolo and illustrator Johann Agius to team up and reclaim this word to launch a limited special edition of fashion wear. In addition, they're pledging to donate 10% of the proceeds towards Malta Pride, hosted by Allied Rainbow Communities.
The collection includes t-shirts, hoodies and caps in different colours and styles. If you are proud of who you are, be sure to grab one of these before it's too late and wear it at your next queer event!

The controversy surrounding Fr. David's remarks sparked outrage. Local artists responded swiftly, reclaiming his derogatory term with a fashion line. Supporting Malta Pride, their collection promotes inclusivity. It reminds me of the dedication needed to master Papa's Pizzeria , crafting each order perfectly. Similarly, creating positive change requires careful attention and passion. Show your support and celebrate diversity by embracing their vibrant designs.
The recent uproar over Fr. David's comments sparked a creative response. Designers are reclaiming his derogatory term, turning negativity into a positive force for Malta Pride. It's like navigating a challenging course in Snow Rider 3D, turning obstacles into opportunities. Just as gamers conquer virtual landscapes, these artists are tackling prejudice head-on. Sometimes, you need a little game-like determination to make a real-world impact.
