What are Pubic Lice?

Pubic lice are lice that mainly live in the pubic area, they are a nuisance that one can easily acquire. The infestation is very easily treated by an off the counter body wash (available in pharmacies).

How do I get Pubic Lice?

Pubic lice can be acquired by body to body contact or through clothes/bed linen/towels etc that have been in contact with a carrier.

Effects Symptoms & Detection...

Pubic lice can be seen by the naked eye and symptoms may include itching in the crotch area (especially at night time). Although they live mainly in the pubic area they can also be found on other parts of the body which are covered in thick hair ex on legs and in beards, however not on the head as head lice are a different kind of lice.

TIP: If suspecting a pubic lice infestation one can easily spot pubic lice by wearing white underwear as the lice sticks to the white material and becomes more visible.

Treatment

Besides using the body wash according to it's instructions, thorough cleaning of bed linen, towels etc is required to avoid re-infestation.
