The Maltese Civil Union Bill turns 3! - 14th April

On the 14th April 2014, the Civil Unions Bill was approved in Malta, granting same sex couples the right to have their relationship recognised and be at par with married couples. Today we would like to remember the festive celebrations at St Georges Square on the day.
3 years down the line Malta ranks as the Number 1 LGBTIQ friendly country in Europe, following the implementation of several other LGBTIQ friendly laws and initiatives such as the Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Sexual Characteristics act.
Currently a Marriage Equality Bill is being drafted and is soon to be presented for public consultation.
We would like to congratulate the 131+ couples that are in a civil union and we would like to thank all those involved in making these laws possible in Malta.
