ARC is now a member of EPOA!

Allied Rainbow Communities (ARC), an NGO working in the Maltese gay community in and who has been serving us Malta Pride for the past couple of years, has just been officiated as a member of EPOA which is the European Association of Pride Organisers. With such a membership, Malta has a chance to be the host country for EuroPride! This means thousands, and thousands of LGBT people & allies coming from all over the world to celebrate pride in Malta.

In September last year, ARC achieved a wonderful turnout at the Malta Pride Parade with 2,500 people marching and celebrating along the Capital’s Republic Street. Numerous shops in Valletta donned the symbolic rainbow flag and support from corporations and public bodies poured in.

“For us this is just the beginning, our membership with EPOA means that we now have a target to achieve and that is, hosting EuroPride. We need to ride on last year’s momentum to build upon our resources, partnerships and capacity as a country to host such a big event and upon which we can continue our mission of promoting a safe and inclusive environment for the LGBTIQ community ” – Eamon Gomez Jimenez, President of ARC told us.

To be successful, ARC needs to submit a comprehensive bid and needs to compete with other hosting countries which would be decided at EPOA’s AGM.

“Our target is to bring EuroPride home in 2023; Until then we need to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that the experience will be recalled in the many years to follow and make an impact not just on the Maltese Islands but also to our neighbouring countries where LGBTIQ rights are still non-existent”
